Frequently Asked Questions
IV Therapy
-
IV (intravenous) therapy is reliable for delivering nutrition and fluids directly into the bloodstream. Our IV vitamin infusions address nutrient deficiencies or physical conditions. Our wellness IV therapies are effective and contain the necessary minerals to address a variety of concerns, like fatigue, brain fog, or hydration.
-
IV therapy is 100% safe! Our skilled nurses here at the IV Garden will keep you safe and monitor you during your IV infusion. The concept underlying both IV hydration therapy and IV vitamin therapy revolves around administering customized cocktails of nutrients, vitamins, electrolytes, and antioxidants intravenously. The aim is to expedite the process of replenishing, rejuvenating, and detoxifying the body compared to traditional methods such as ingestion of water, maintaining a healthy diet, or taking medication orally.
-
IV infusions take anywhere from 30 minutes up to 3 hours, depending on what kind of infusion you are getting. Before your visit, our nurses will let you know how long your visit will be. Our IV therapy treatments last a few days after the infusion, so we recommend you come in every one to two weeks to make sure your body is getting all of the nutrients it needs.
-
We recommend coming into our office for IV infusion therapy weekly. This is unique to every client, so we will come up with a comprehensive plan to ensure you are getting the most out of your treatments.
-
There is no downtime after your IV session! You can expect to feel hydrated, refreshed, and rejuvenated. There may be slight bruising around the injection site, but that is it. The benefits from your IV treatment should be felt in the days and weeks following.
-
Our IV vitamin infusions are focused on delivering essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These do not require prior authorization from a doctor or basic bloodwork. They are designed to address nutritional deficiencies, boost energy levels, enhance skin health, or aid in fatigue or hangovers. Our specialty IV infusions go beyond basic nutrient supplementation. They target particular symptoms and promote specific therapeutic outcomes. Some of our specialty IV infusions include intralipid infusions for fertility treatment, iron infusions, and NAD+ therapy. These services must be booked by calling (781) 652-0076.
-
Our home base is located in Newton, MA. We can travel within a 20-mile radius, but if you live outside of that, we may be able to accommodate you. However, we can not travel outside of Massachusetts. If you want to book a mobile IV treatment in the Greater Boston area, call us at (781) 652-0076.
-
We always recommend IV infusions over oral vitamin supplements. This is because our IV treatments contain a higher concentration of nutrients and minerals than an oral tablet. These essential vitamins get absorbed faster through an IV versus those ingested orally.
-
The main differences between IV infusions and IM injections lie in the route of administration and absorption rate of the nutrients/substances being delivered. IV infusions involve administering fluids, medications, or nutrients directly into a vein using a needle and tubing connected to an IV bag or syringe. This allows substances to enter the bloodstream quickly and efficiently. IM injections involve injecting medication directly into a muscle using a syringe and needle. The medication is absorbed into the bloodstream through the muscle tissue. IV infusions are used for administering fluids, electrolytes, medications, or nutrients in cases where rapid absorption or precise dosing is required.
IM injections are used for administering medications that are formulated for intramuscular use, such as Vitamin B12, Toradol, Zofran, L-Carnitine, Biotin, our Amino blend, and more. This method ensures rapid absorption, promoting efficient therapeutic effects and quicker relief for various health conditions. -

Iron Infusions
-
The amount of treatments required will depend on your level of anemia, but typically more than 1 infusion is necessary to see significant results. Many clients find they get a satisfactory increase in their levels by doing 2 infusions with a 1-2 week time frame, or 3 infusions within 2-3 weeks. Of course, everyone responds differently and results cannot be guaranteed.
-
Most people tolerate Iron infusions well but potential side effects of IV Iron may include nausea, vomiting, flushing, headache, diarrhea and cramping, or discomfort at the injection site. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug called anaphylaxis is rare.
-
Following the infusion(s), we recommend having your bloodwork rechecked 3 days after a single infusion, and 4-6 weeks after the last in a series of infusions.
-
We do not require a note from your doctor (*unless you are pregnant), however, we strongly encourage letting your PCP know that you are receiving this treatment. Your PCP has the best insight into your health history and may want to offer input on the treatment plan. We are happy to coordinate with your PCP or follow any instructions on their preferred dosing/frequency of infusions.
PRP/PRFM Treatments
-
PRFM therapy is most effective for individuals in the early to moderate stages of hair loss as the treatment activates dormant hair follicles to enhance natural hair growth. It is not indicated for those with advanced hair loss or complete baldness.
-
Typically, we recommend 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, then maintenance treatments every 4-6 months to maintain results.
-
By stimulating your own hair growth, PRP delivers natural-looking results that develop gradually, aligning with your hair’s natural growth cycle. The treatment is also remarkably safe, as it uses your blood, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions or infections. Additionally, the procedure requires minimal downtime, allowing you to return to your daily activities shortly after treatment. Performed at our medical spa, PRP therapy combines effectiveness with convenience, making it an excellent option for anyone seeking to address hair loss naturally and safely. The IV Garden has many patients who have seen fantastic hair growth results from PRP.
-
While there is no real downtime post-procedure, we recommend the following to optimize results and limit discomfort:
Avoid washing your hair for 24-48 hours to allow the PRFM to settle. You may gently wash the scalp with mild shampoo after 48 hours
Limit strenuous exercise for 48 hours
Avoid heat treatments such as Saunas, steam rooms, or hot showers for 48 hours
